Call for Cease Fire
Let's step back from the brink for a moment, before someone is seriously injured or damage is done to our beloved campus. Board, please CONFIRM a meeting to occur TODAY or, at worst, by Friday. In return, protesters please agree to not take over any more buildings on campus. All gates would continue to be peacefully blocked except the 6th Street gate, which is open for regular traffic. In other words, have the University be open for regular operations. This truce shall stand until the results of the BoT meeting are known. How about it?

I would say no cease fire because the adm and its own people do not respect us. How can we trust them? We don't trust them anymore. They hurt my friends. We never hurt them and we always practice non violence. Why should we cease fire for them? We should continue protest until JK resigns.
Think what you are saying! In time of conflict over something that is loved by all (Gallaudet), we must not escalate towards more conflict.
See the statement below and the web site. More and more people on all sides look with alarm at escalation of conflict at GU. The hard core must be bypassed if they will not agree to talk.

"Subject: Supporting the Faculty Resolutions
This past Monday the faculty approved four resolutions in a special
meeting. These resolutions call for a balanced investigation of
the search process, a team of outside mediators, established terms
for the president, and higher signing requirements for tenured
faculty. The Reconcilers group was pleased to learn of the faculty
votes this past Monday. We support these very initial steps in
this community's healing process.
While we recognize there is still significant pain and anger in the
community, we hope both sides use this opportunity to expand the
dialogue.
