I checked around and a deaf professional named Christian Vogler from our Deaf Academics on internet clarified:
“The Sorenson Learning Communication Center (SLCC) building will also host the Gallaudet side of the NSF VL2 grant, which pending a review in two years, will be worth considerably more than $3.4 million. That grant is all about visual learning, and moreover, it is one of the most competitive - if not the most competitive ever - research grants that Gallaudet has been awarded.
We already got the grant, beating out many big names in the
process. It officially commenced this October. What is happening now is that the NSF requires us (as well as the other two institutions that got a similar award) to set up the complete structure and vision for managing the VL2 program. In somewhat less than two years there will be a review by the NSF of our progress. If we pass, we the rest of the award will be released for
conducting the proposed research activities around visual learning.
How the current events will or will not factor in is anybody’s guess.
On a more personal note now: I do not think that the grant should be used to point fingers at one or another side. If at all, it should be a demonstration of the need to resolve matters.”

Hope it helps. However I want to note that the anxiety of unfairness is very understandable. I had seen plenty where audiology and speech programs end up getting more attention and money. It is good that the grant from NSF is now pending, it means we should keep eye on the grant to make sure there will be equal share of money.
WOW! About the money! No WONDER about deaf children need to have more education at school! Where is their own native language in their own school?
I cannot believed that it is really stupid for them rather to focus on only one issue than our native language!! I don\’t feel right that ASL is going down in the drain while our deaf kids meed in education!!

Yes, I agree with you about audism. It’s sad to see how much audism money is invested with in speech and hearing dept as compared to what ASL dept gets. Actually the deepest root of audism is the medical persepective where they believe in fixing any impairments and willing to invest large bulk of money. We need to educate these people in medical field in order to alter their perspective in fixing hearing impairment and see the crucial need of ASL in deaf community.
Yes I voted to get rid of Jane. Because many of us are audism. Do not destroy deaf culture!
We need education instead of spending money on something that we will never need this. JK should go! It is time to fight in what we believe.
I am very pleased with your vlogs input. Of course, I am very digusted how Jane decided with money. Likewise, over two centuries, auditory-oral approach is always a failure. We know that! Jane knows that, doesn’t she? ASL meets all conditions rather than time-and-money spent searching for anything. We must step beyond to have Jane resigned. Thank you for such a wonderful vlog.
Thanks for letting us know as to what Jane Fernandes’ real objectives for Gallaudet University’s future were all along! Unbelievable! And definitely not in alignment with what Gallaudet University has always stood for as the elite university in the Deaf community with set core values in A.S.L. (American Sign Language)and in the Deaf community. After all, the fully visible language of A.S.L. is what qualifies a person as a full-fledged member of the core of the Deaf community!
At least, we finally expose JK’s hidden agenda for undermining the existence of rich deaf history and intellects in timely manner.
So JK is much like a serpent (snake) curling inside the rock during the daytime and seep around at night. That’s what JK and IKJ and their cronies are trying to impose the sleath mode of “audism” and mow off the “weeds’ via inspiration from one of Clayton Valli’s “Dandelion” ASL poetry.
Not many people realize that the “dandelion” plant do offer countless naturapathy benefits (speaking of the nature itself v. manmade artificiality).
We must not let technopoly dehumanize our humanity. We are much like the neo-Luddities fighting off the overdependence on technology to perfecten the so-called human flaws. Being deaf is no flaw. That’s what the beauty of inner human spirits and determination prevails about our own existence as deaf people without being compromised by technology itself to define who and what we are all about.

I wish I am back at Gally again. Since I know now what audism means. I am more interested to go back to Gally and to support on that word remove negative issues. I do not know if I can pass the test. I will take the test again. Who knows what will hold in the future for me.
