Two Videoclips of DPS Misconduct At HMB Raid 10/6
I watched the videoclips closely. These are different from the shaky vclip shown several weeks ago.
these are much clearer
First videoclip: it shows two dps trying to force their way through a human chain, one somewhat roughly and the other one dps reaching out for his mace. The students were peaceful and organized. Why was the DPS getting his mace?
Second videoclip: Mace3.wmv.. It shows two dps in the stairway along with students on both ends. I think the students were blocking them from going up or down the One DPS has his mace on his hand while the other one was reaching for his mace. As the students were there first, why was one holding the mace while the other one reaching for his? As you can see, the students were peaceful and talking among each other. They weren’t violent at all.
Hi all,
I wanted to show you how DPS treated us yesterday.
http://www.vphreak.com/fssa/vids/
Peace.wmv is human shield and DPS break through…
Mace3.wmv.. Watch carefully! DPS holding mace spray in their hand..
Another dps getting his mace ready…
I couldn’t film the rest with mace cuz I stepped back for my safety…
Thank you for all of ur support.
Paul

I must add something else. There were no interpreters, right? I noticed the DPS were talking; how can the students know what they are saying?
Wow. I can see two films — the black campus cop tries to pull-out his mace from his right-side hip on two films. He intends to spray his mace on these students blocking in the halls. But he did not spray on that time.
I could not find anything on the Web with enclosed web addresses - http://www.vphreak.com/fssa/vids or Mace3.wmv. I ever type http://www.vphreak.com which enclose no videos at all.
Could you please kindly submit two videos with easily-accessible click for many people, who are not computer-whiz?

Uhhh.. come on… Those kids were getting in the DPS face.. So how can you say that.. If I was surrounded by all those kids I’d be worried for my safety too!
And secondly the 2nd video - they were occupying a University Building - they could be considered trespassing. Im sorry this is starting to get me to support FSSA even more now. To raid a building and lock it down is just not right. The DPS are just doing their jobs!
You know even when I was at Gallaudet certain buildings were off limit during certain hours. So why wouldn’t that apply now.
what i see is everyone did everything wrong
DPS
they should have brought interpreter or know sign language, heck sign language should be _required_ for security-level employees.
needs to be less bully
be more proactive - maybe no interpreter due to nature of emergency call, but they could have written something on a pad explaining the students
Students
they should have used a _true_ peaceful protest. The first video showed struggle between DPS and student.
what they could have is get 20-40 students and do a tight sitdown with hands in. This just makes it harder for DPS to get through and no struggles on either sides
they could have let DPS go thru - what was it, 3 or 5 against 50
I noticed there were videocam(s?) in those videos in the backgrounds. I wish we could see from their perspective too.
a nobody’s opinion
That’s good point. That security guard on the right certainly knows sign language cuz I recognized him, but for some reasons, they didn’t use sign language.
Robert, the spray wasn’t caught on the tape. I know the pepper spray was used, but when and where, I am not sure.
Still supposed you are deaf and must rely on your eyes, that would be a very powerful deterrent. Because when you are blnded, you cannot see and you cannot communicate. That is really scary for the deaf people. Like double whammy.
I’m with nobody - it could have handled better on BOTH sides.
I understand where the students were coming from, but knowing the limitness of DPS’s ability of signing (or none at all), someone could have written on paper explaining (though their actions were obvious, but it would prove they DID try to let DPS know).
DPS knew better to get someone who knows sign language or like nobody said, writing on paper.
I do see students being peaceful in the first video with the exception of that student in black hat - from his back, I could tell he was a bit hositle towards DPS? And someone on the stairs with cam was waving as if to tell him to stop and cool it.
The DPS with the mace was clearly unsure of what to do, if the first thing he thought of was pulling out his mace.
The person with the camera on the stairs with the KG shirt looks like David Simmons. And yes the student who had the black hat did look hostile he looked like he was getting in the DPS face - Taunting them.
I don’t understand why, if the HMB was locked down, DPS attempted to break in, aggressively going past the human chain. This is best left to a crisis management team, but for some reason, Jordan hadn’t consulted the professionals to handle this violatile situation.
Instead, he used campus security guards with poor sign language skills and a history of misconduct with the students to try to break in. You could see in both videotapes that they made no attempt to communicate with the deaf students.
Yes, several students were angry because the DPS broke in and tried to force their way through the human chains. They shouldn’t have been taunting, and they were told to cease by their peers. However this didn’t excuse the intimidation tactics nor the violence of the DPS toward the students because basically there were no violence shown to the DPS by the students.
The DPS shouldn’t have tried to break in the human chains in the first place. They had no formal training in this kind of situation. Sure enough it ended in a disaster, with students were injured. They should have left it to the professional DC Police who have considerable training and experiences dealing with barricades.
Wow, well said, MZ!
You sure you are not majoring in law??
Keep up the good journalism - that’s why I keep coming here.
No, but many people told me I should become a lawyer. I prefer being a civil right advocate. Thanks, Iammine
