Hearing Aids - Improved Relationships

When the Better Hearing Institute offered me a guest article on how hearing aids can improve a couple's intimate love life, I jumped at it. This was an advantage of hearing aids that had not yet been covered on About Deafness/HOH. When I get e-mails from people frustrated that aging relatives resist getting hearing aids, I usually point them to the following articles:

Yes, it would be nice to have this advantage! However, not every deaf would be benefit from this! There are many different method of improving relationships. If you feel that would help you. GRAB The opportunity!! Also, Please dont encourage any false hope!
I can get how hearing aids can help someone who’s lost their hearing reconnect with their partners. For me as a Deaf man they have done nothing but throw my relationships into confusion! My former partners have complained about them beeping while making love, smelling funny, etc. etc. I recommend making a hearing lover use earplugs to avoid any problems. Of course you can take them off, but then you become terrified of whatever noises you might make during sex… it’s so complicated!
I dont really see how the sense of hearing can improve a deaf person’s ability to enjoy lovemaking. You can increase the use of other stimuli like color strobe lights, incense, flavored body oils, bed vibrators, and other non audible stimuli to enjoy lovemaking.
