March to the Capitol

WOW!  That's pretty much all I can say.  Here are some brief tidbits that I typed while walking:

9:16- We have officially begun the march.

9:23- We've made it to K street.  I can't believe how many people are here

9:25- To say this is an emotional experience would be an understatement.  I can't believe how many people are here.  I never realized the amount of support we had.

10:00-We're about a block or 2 from the capital.  These numbers are astounding.  MJ Bienvenu estimates this is about twice as many ppl as were at the DPN march.  Wow.  We take up abt 4 city blocks, at least.  Can't wait for these pictures.

10:12- Unity for Gallaudet indeed.  We are so bonded here, it's amazing.  I love seeing alumni meet up with old friends.  We're on final stretch as we turn toward the front of the capitol.

10:15- We are here.  Student leaders are lined up at the front.  Waiting for everyone to file in now.

The rally, what I could see, was really inspiring.  The crowd went back farther than I could see.  I think the most inspiring portion was when Greg Hlibok spoke.  His hair is gray, and there are a few more lines on his face, but he looks very much the same as he did in 1988.  It was really incredibly moving to see someone who had such an impact on Gallaudet and the entire Deaf community supporting what we're doing.

Check Elisa's blog, as well as the others, for updates.
