This is a letter of support that we, Riverside for FSSA have strong feelings to take part in the Unity for Gallaudet movement, too.

To take the helm of Gallaudet University, we stand with the faculty, staff, students and the alumni in their protest of Dr. Jane K. Fernandes. Gallaudet University must be in the hands of a truly Deaf president, a president who is fairly chosen, well qualified, well-respected, and one who understands the struggle of the Deaf community and can sympathize with the movement of Deaf equality in a growing diverse community.

For the love of Kendall Green, we saw nothing but the very mark of injustice that Dr. Fernandes and the controversy of her selection were signs of oppression. We agree it is time NOW to demand change. We have watched how the protest efforts have escalated, and it has gone excessively far. We remain hopeful the Board of Trustees will finally get to their senses to put an end to this injust act in no time.

Riverside for FSSA joins the ever-growing support for Gallaudet protesters by providing sleeping bags, blankets, sweaters, umbrellas, food goods and a donation of $842 by a group of Wings for Gallaudet (and those who flew in 3,000 miles to deliver goods.)

We have so much affection and respect for our Gallaudet allies, our heroes and heroines fighting like soldiers.
