You like me, you really like me… (and I like you too!)
Deaf Pagan Crossroads Sabrina over at Pagan Dawn recently chose to bestow Deaf Pagan Crossroads with the following award: Thank you, Sabrina. I'm both honored and humbled. Pagan Dawn is an infant in the blogosphere, begun by a woman who readily confesses to being new both to blogging and to Pagan Spirituality. I enjoy reading it, if for no other [...]

I decided to surprise my family by flying down to Arizona...
The deaf boy in the world I decided to surprise my family by flying down to Arizona for weekend. I made my reservation using the credit that I have with Orbitz.com I only have to pay the penalty fee of 130.00 which is not bad at all. I made mistake by tell them to give me the cheapest ticket available. When I got the confirmation e-mail and I was quite unhappy with the times they reserved me a...

A Dark Moment of Deaf History
testing_the_truth Hi Everyone, yes I am talking about Black Friday, October 13, 2006. On this outrageous day many of us read the on-line news reports of favorite protest bloggers Elisa and MishkaZena with broken hearts. Why? Because of the the arrest of 133 brave protest warriors at the Gallaudet University! I am talking about this year, when current presidential candidate John M...

ASL class starts today - Level TWO!!
A more silent world I am really excited about taking the level 2 class this year. We were all really worried that it wasn't going to happen since we needed a minimum number of people and a couple people from level 1 moved away over the summer. So it is very welcome news that the class is happening, and I am really looking forward to taking my ASL to the next level!!

Double Dipping
The Rebuttal I was at a Do on the weekend in Ballarat.  Ballarat is a historical town in Australia famous for gold mining and considered the birthplace of Trade Unionism in Australia. Fair play and equal opportunity are very much rooted in the history of Ballarat. What better place than Ballarat to have a discussion over a [...]

Fourth Mapping
Sudden Silence On Thursday I had my fourth mapping, three weeks after activation day on August 20.  It was hard to believe it was already time for another mapping…the week passed so quickly, and I was still not even at the normal level of volume.  I never used the louder program at all. I wasn’t really looking forward [...]

Happy Grandparents Day!
Filipino Deaf from the Eyes of a Hearing Pers When I was asked to interpret for a deaf couple who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary many years ago, I can't help but get teary eyed as their children were asked to say a short message honoring their parents. They were very grateful because they were raised very well despite the hardships associated with having deaf parents. All of their children were born ...

Argentine Journal
We Cue! Journeys, metaphorically or literally, through life or to foreign countries, require some interactions with others, at least for basic needs – transportation, food, lodging.  These basic transactions require interacting with others, which requires communication. This summer I went on an overseas adventure to Buenos Aires, Argentina, with my teenage children, Ben, 16,...

Smarter Than a 5th Grader?!?
We Cue! What I really love about September is that none of the erasers have been chewed off the pencils.  Yet. The last blog that I wrote has a comment from Esther asking if I have cued in all of the grades yet.  That's funny because my colleagues joke that we should, by now, be smarter than 5th [...]

Tap on Hearing People's Shoulder or Wave Your Hand Over...
RLMDEAF The well-known and respectable film "hearing" critic, Roger Ebert of Chicago, IL, seems understood what we, deaf people were going thru everyday life. Ebert's knee got whacked by another film critic during the film screening. Ebert couldn't see the subtitles of the new foreign film to be reviewed. He got the cancer on his mouth area few years ago. The main part of his...

Filipino Deaf from the Eyes of a Hearing Pers Let's be kids again, shall we? hehehe I have been a fan of Spider-man since I can remember. In fact he is my only favorite Marvel Comic character.
