Decline? What Decline?
All The Young Dudes MM's recent post, Decline, begs question, “How does he define campaigning?” To campaign, do we always need to take to the streets, or can we campaign like STOP EUGENICS? That team has been working very hard, and still going strong. Without going into any detailed analysis of his post, which lacks any serious analysis, and merely asks questions that a...

ASL Class
Deaf - Hearing Relationship Ok, so we are canceling our little ASL class at the church at least for the duration of the summer. It was suggested we have the class twice a month rather than every week, but with only two people showing up, it did not seem worth it. I do not know if we will try [...]

Where are the deaf children?
The ASL-Cochlear Implant Community FACTS: Approximately 95% of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) children are born to hearing parents (Mitchell & Karchmer, 2004). D/HH children who received early cochlear implants and high-quality early intervention achieve similar levels as their hearing peers (Cheng et al., 2006; Geers, 2004). In 1995 in the state of North Carolina, 40% of families chose auditor...

Followup on H.R. 6320 - Subtitles in Internet Videos
gwallgofi Here's a wee follow up on my previous post about the legalisation in USA - the HR 6320 bill. Here's one damned good reason why that bill's timing is vital for us... The Family Guy series will be online videos based - you're not going to get it on TV. You'll get it over the Internet. And [...]

How successful is cochlear implant?
Filipino Deaf from the Eyes of a Hearing Pers My last post made me think deeper. Are cochlear implants proven to have a high success rate? The reason why I'm having serious doubts is when I was putting sub-titles on the video, I'm having a hard time listening to the speeches made by those two kids who have undergone the implant. So instead of deciphering what he is saying, I simply put [inaudible speech].
